New digs

Christy Diefenderfer

The Holton-Arms School
5th Grade Science and MathAs the chicks got bigger, we realized that they needed some bigger digs. Their newest home were these big Tupperware bins. Now that they can fly, we also had to cover the top. Sweet pea was known to get out and hang out on top during class.

Do birds sleep?

Our chicks are quite tired from a busy week! They are resting up for their first "chick"ation this weekend with Kelly, Leigh, Charlotte, Macy, and Claire.

A new flock

Christy Diefenderfer The girls were delighted to come into school this Monday morning and find out that five guineas hatched over the weekend. They are very cute! We can't believe we have eight chicks in the classroom! Our room has gotten quite noisy!

New Home

Christy Diefenderfer Before leaving for Camp Sheridan, I moved the two most recently hatched chicks into the brooder and took a quick video. Sweetpea (black chick) was very excited to be joined in the brooder by the two chicks that hatched on Monday.

Just Born!

Christy Diefenderfer On Monday, October 21 we were so excited to find a baby Serama chick in the incubator. We then had the opportunity to observe two chicks hatching. This is a video of one of the chicks first starting to move!
